Checks before a long tow
Before any long trip, check the basics: every trailer light working, including indicators and brake lights; tyre pressures and condition on the trailer, which are easy to forget when it sits for months; and the coupling locked properly onto the ball. A braked trailer needs its breakaway cable attached to a proper point on the bar, not looped over the ball. An unbraked trailer needs a secondary coupling. We fit bars with the right attachment point, and we test the electrics on a test board before you leave.
