Towbar fitting in Ascot
We fit towbars for Ascot and the SL5 villages from our Bracknell workshop, five miles across via Winkfield. Tell us what you drive and we'll show you only the bars approved for it, with the towing limits spelled out — which matters more than usual round here, given what people are towing.

Fitting it yourself? Where the weight makes it sensible we'll post the bar and wiring kit out instead.
Horse trailers and heavier loads
Ascot means horse trailers, and they're at the heavy end of what a car can pull. Nose weight is the figure to watch: it's the downward load on the ball, and it's limited by the bar, the car and often the lower of the two. A loaded trailer with the weight forward of the axle can exceed it easily, so we'll show you the rating on every bar we quote rather than leaving you to find out on the road.
We also cover Sunninghill, Sunningdale, North Ascot, Winkfield and Cheapside, all within a short run of the workshop.
Towbar fitting in Ascot — common questions
- Do you fit towbars in Ascot and Sunningdale?
- We fit at our workshop on London Road in Bracknell, which is around five miles from Ascot via the A329 and A330 through Winkfield. That covers Sunninghill, Sunningdale, North Ascot and the surrounding SL5 villages.
- What towbar is best for a horse trailer?
- A fixed flange bar is usually the sensible choice, because it takes bolt-on accessories like a stabiliser plate that a swan-neck bar won't. The deciding factor is nose weight rather than the style, so tell us the trailer and we'll match a bar with the headroom for it.
- Will a detachable towbar affect my parking sensors?
- Not if it's wired properly. A dedicated electrics kit gets coded to your car so the sensors know a bar is fitted, and a detachable one means you can take the neck off entirely when you're not towing. Bypass kits are cheaper but don't talk to the car in the same way.
- How much does towbar fitting cost?
- Fitting is £120 for the job, not per part, so the bar and the wiring go on in the same visit for that one price. The bar and wiring kit are quoted on top and you'll see the full total before paying anything.
- Can you fit a towbar I've already bought?
- Yes. We'll fit a bar bought elsewhere, wire it in and test it. Give us the part number when you book so we can confirm the labour first.
