Type-approved bars
Tow-Trust bars with the nose weight and maximum towing limit shown for every one, straight from the manufacturer's data.
Fitted at our workshop
Fitting from £120.00, including the electrics being tested properly before you drive away.
Or posted to you
Prefer to fit it yourself? We'll post the bar and kit out, where the weight makes that sensible.
Which type of towbar?
They all tow the same weight — the difference is how much of it you can see when you're not towing, and what else you can hang off it.
Fixed flange
The workhorse. Bolt-on ball with a flat flange, so it takes cycle carriers and stabilisers. Always visible.
Swan neck
Neater curved neck with a slimmer profile. Tidier look, but fewer accessories bolt to it than a flange.
Detachable
Comes off when you're not towing, so the back of the car looks standard. Dearer, but no permanent ball on show.
Retractable
Tucks away under the bumper and swings out when needed. The tidiest option and the most expensive.
Electrics, and what the law wants
7-pin or 13-pin?
7-pin covers lights on a trailer or a cycle carrier. 13-pin adds the permanent live and fridge feed a caravan needs, so it's the one to have if you're touring.
Dedicated or bypass?
A dedicated kit plugs into your car's own loom and gets coded in, so trailer detection and parking sensors behave. A bypass kit is cheaper and splices in instead.
Check your own limit too
Every bar shows its maximum towing weight, but your car has its own figure in the handbook. The lower of the two always applies, and your licence category matters as well.
Towbar fitting in Bracknell — common questions
- Do you fit towbars in Bracknell?
- Yes. We supply and fit towbars at our workshop on London Road in Bracknell (RG12), and we're an easy run from Ascot, Wokingham, Crowthorne, Sandhurst and Camberley. Fitting starts at £120.00 for the job, including testing the electrics before you drive away.
- How much does towbar fitting cost in Bracknell?
- Fitting is £120.00 for the job rather than per part, so the bar and the wiring are fitted in the same visit for that one price. The bar and wiring kit are quoted on top, and you'll see the full total before you pay anything.
- Will a towbar fit my car?
- Tell us the make, model and body style and we'll show you only the bars that are actually approved for that vehicle, rather than a generic list. If we haven't got your car on file yet, send us the details and we'll come back to you with a price.
- Should I have a 7-pin or 13-pin towbar socket?
- 7-pin is enough for trailer lights or a cycle carrier. 13-pin adds the permanent live and fridge feed a caravan needs, so it's the one to go for if you're touring. We can advise which your setup needs when you book.
- How much can I tow?
- Every bar we quote shows its own maximum towing weight and nose weight, but your car has its own limit in the handbook and the lower of the two always applies. Your driving licence category also caps what you're allowed to tow, so it's worth checking all three.
- Can you fit a towbar I've already bought?
- Yes. We'll fit a bar you've bought elsewhere, wire it in and test it. Give us the part number when you book so we can confirm the labour before you commit.
- Can you post a towbar out instead of fitting it?
- Where the weight makes it sensible, yes — we'll post the bar and wiring kit out to you to fit yourself. Delivery is charged per order and shown before you pay.
Still not sure what you need? Call us on 07758 833 127 and tell us what you drive and what you're towing.
